The International Festival of Winter Cinema (IFWC) is the world’s only free outdoor winter film festival.

It recognizes and celebrates local and international cinema with winter, alpine, and polar themes of any style or genre, presenting them on a giant snow screen. IFWC especially encourage films submitted by indigenous peoples, immigrants, about winter life, or address climate change. This not-for-profit film festival allows film artists to gain exposure to their craft, while the public has the opportunity to enjoy the festival free of cost. By celebrating local and international cinema, IFWC offers authentic winter experiences to residents and visitors of Edmonton.
