ASIRT investigating death of a 43 year old man

A man was starting fires before he went into medical distress.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after a 43 year old man died after being arrested by Edmonton Police.

On Friday June 28th at 10:30pm, officers were called to 100 Avenue and 114 Street after receiving calls about a man starting small fires.

Police later arrested the suspect, a struggle ensued.

ASIRT says police determined the man was in medical distress after he was taken to the police van, police attempted CPR while the ambulance was coming.

The man was taken to hospital where he later passed away Monday night.
