Big Lakes County is making a contribution to education in High Prairie.

Reeve Richard Simard was on hand to present Northern Lakes College with a cheque for $100,000 towards construction of its High Prairie campus. According to college officials, the new campus will accommodate up to 225 students.

“We are delighted that Big Lakes County has supported this investment towards the new campus in the community of High Prairie,” said Northern Lakes College Board of Governors Chair, Daniel Vandermeulen. “This facility will allow for future program growth to meet regional employment demands and services to community members.”

The new campus is expected to be completed by next fall. In honour of the donation, one of the classes at the school will be named the Big Lakes County Trades Classroom. The total cost of the project is $24 million, with over $21 million of that coming from the province.
