Fire near Slave Lake expected to burn for months

The fire will continue to produce smoky conditions in the area

According to an official a wildfire close to the community of Slave Lake could continue burning for months.

Residents of Slave Lake are still on an evacuation notice in addition to a fire ban on the area.

The fire has now passed 240 thousand hectares in size and is 32 kilometres away from the town.

The reception centre for evacuees at the Legacy Centre has now been shutdown and the Salvation Army and Red Cross support have both left town.
