Grande Prairie RCMP searching for armed robbery suspects

Police say the two suspects are believed to be armed and dangerous, and should not be approached

 

Suspects sought in an armed robbery investigation in Grande Cache now have police in Grande Prairie on the lookout, which led to a heavy police presence in the area of Royal Oaks and Avondale Monday morning.

According to an RCMP Press Release, In the early hours of Monday, November 30, Grande Prairie RCMP learned of an investigation into an armed robbery in Grande Cache. The Hinton and Grande Cache RCMP responded to this call, but the suspects fled the scene before they could be apprehended.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., the Grande Prairie RCMP located the suspect vehicle sought in the robbery, and officers attempted a high risk vehicle stop. However, the suspects fled and though mounties initially pursued, the chase was called off due to concerns of public safety.

Then, shortly before 8 a.m., a number of schools in the Avondale and Royal Oaks neighbourhoods were placed on a hold and secure, as officers and RCMP Police Dog Services searched the area for the suspects.

That came after police received a report of an attempted break-in to a residence in that area, and a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a female suspect, who is now in custody. However, two male suspects remain at large. A Caucasian man, who was wearing a black sweater, black boots, a toque and gloves is described as being tall with a thin build.

The second man, who is also Caucasian and described as being tall with a heavier build and sporting a goatee and moustache, was wearing blue jeans, a grey jacket, grey hat and carrying a light coloured backpack.
