New CBC Series Trickster Premieres October 7

On Wednesday October 7, Trickster Premieres on CBC Television It is a 6-episode TV drama meets coming-of-age meets supernatural thriller based on Eden Robinson’s 2017 Scotiabank Giller Prize finalist and 2020 Canada Reads nominee, Son of a Trickster.

The series follows an Indigenous teen struggling to keep his dysfunctional family in check.

Veteran Actor Georgina Lightning, from the Maskwacis Cree Nation spoke with Windspeaker Radio about her role of Sophie, working with her daughter Crystal, and the significance of the series.


Tonight, The City of Edmonton is sponsoring the Premier of Trickster at Metro Cinema (Garneau Theater).  Film lovers are invited to attend the screening and participate in a Q & A segment following uninterrupted screenings of episode 1 & 2.

Grammy nominated drum group, Northern Cree will also perform.

Doors open at 5, with social distancing measures in place.
