One dead after cars hit moose in Thorhild County

The RCMP will continue to investigate

A woman is dead and a child is in hospital after a crash with a moose.

Redwater RCMP say two vehicles hit a moose Tuesday night at 11:30pm on Highway 63 near Township Road 622.

According to officials a car with a woman and a child was travelling south when it hit the animal first.

A northbound truck with four people then collided with the moose.

The 41 year old woman from Sturgeon County died on scene.

The child was taken to hospital with minor injuries and those in the truck suffered minor injuries.

Redwater RCMP will continue to investigate.
