I love the Royals. I love watching them, reading about them, following their dramas. And I love Prince Harry. He's getting married. One part, yay! And another part, boo.
Okay, a little background here:
Kensington Palace confirmed via Twitter on December 15 of last year that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (an American actress) will marry on May 19, 2018. The couple’s decision to get married on a Saturday goes against tradition, because royal weddings usually take place on a weekday. Why? No idea. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wed on a Friday and the Queen on a Thursday. I guess they just like their traditions. I like chicken wings on Wednesdays. Same-same, right?
Sweethearts that they are, its rumoured that the May date may also have been picked in order to give the Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, time to recover after the birth of her third child, due in April. Awww. Nice.
Get this: just like when the Oilers were on their play off run, pubs here in Edmonton opened up early and stayed open later. In Britain, they're kickin' it party style, too. Bar opening hours on the Saturday might be extended to 1AM - serving hours were "relaxed" after both Prince William's wedding, in 2011, and the Queen's 90th birthday, in 2016.
Meghan Markle’s wedding dress is probably the biggest fashion commission of the year, so what will the soon to be princess wear? She's navigated her time in the spotlight so far in a handful of Canadian designers - she called our sweet Northern space home for seven years while filming the US legal drama, Suits.
I'm counting down now. Are you? Not to worry. I'll keep you updated!
