The City of Grande Prairie invites the community to enjoy Canada Day with a variety of in-person and virtual events planned for 2021 including two live concerts, dual aerial fireworks, and a scavenger hunt

All residents are encouraged to join in and show their Canadian pride with these free and fun festivities.
Details on the events being hosted across the city on Thursday, July 1 are as follows:
Canada Day Scavenger Hunt
A City-wide, outdoor scavenger hunt launches Monday, June 21 at 8:30 a.m. for residents to take part in with their households for a chance to win prizes.
To play, download the free Goose Chase Scavenger Hunt app, search for GP Canada Day 2021 or enter the game code: 1G33L7 to uncover fun missions to complete.
The game runs until Sunday, July 4 at 11:59 p.m. Winners are drawn at random and will be contacted by email on July 5. Visit cityofgp.com/CanadaDay for an updated list on prizing information.
Picnic in the Park
Down at Muskoseepi Park, residents can enjoy free, live entertainment and food trucks for a Picnic in the Park from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
Musical acts Nice Horse alongside special guests Jay Walker, Wendy Bredeson and Christina Rogers will be entertaining families from the Amphitheatre stage while food trucks provide food and treats suitable for a picnic. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy other park amenities including the splash Park, walking trails, Grande Prairie Museum and Heritage Village.
COVID-19 gathering limitations are being enforced in all areas of the park, and thus free pre-registration and check-in is required to attend this activity at the amphitheatre and available at revolutionplace.com. Attendees are asked to respect their designated time slots. Limited bookings available.
Later in the evening, Revolution Place continues the entertainment with Plaza Rock from 6:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The events offers a stacked line-up of Canadian artists to celebrate Canada Day 2021 featuring Derina Harvey Band with special guests The Northbloods, Kyle McKearney, and McKindred
Tickets are available in tables of 6 for $150, must be booked with a cohort and are required to attend this concert in-person. Tickets go on sale starting on June 4 at revolutionplace.com. Limited tickets available.
Dual Drive-In Aerial Fireworks
To cap off the celebrations, the City is hosting their traditional fireworks with a dual drive-in aerial fireworks display at Muskoseepi Park and Community Knowledge Campus east football field at 11:30 p.m.
Residents are asked to follow all temporary traffic control persons and signage at the sites. Spectators are encouraged to watch fireworks that are closest to them and must remain in their vehicles to respect the current COVID-19 physical distancing and gathering restrictions. Washrooms are available in the Eastlink Centre or at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park.
