Community members in the town of Stony Plain gathered at Heritage Park early Saturday morning to pay respects to those who have been lost and those who are healing on Orange Shirt Day.
The community kicked off the day with a 1.5km walk and finished back at Heritage Park for a community Round Dance.
Deanna Butz is the Community Development Officer with the Town of Stony Plain and says this is the second year the community has hosted events for Orange Shirt day but hopes in years future days like this can be celebrated.
Butz say’s she’s continued to learn throughout days like this and has high hopes for the future.
