Danielle Smith announces financial relief measures for Albertans

During a TV address on Tuesday, Premier Danielle Smith announced a few ways to help Albertans out during the tough times.

Premier Danielle Smith announced on Tuesday many Albertans will receive financial relief from the provincial government during the current inflation and affordability crisis.

During her televised address, Smith said her government plans to provide a $600 payment over the six months for each child under the age of 18 in low income families. The threshold to receive the child benefits will be if the family earns less than $180,000 per year.

Smith said such payments will also be made to seniors and people who receive benefits from Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped and Persons with Developmental Disabilities.

The Government will not charge it's gasoline tax for the next six months and will increase the rebate amount Alberta households and small businesses already receive on their electricity bills to an amount of an additional $200 per household.
