More ambulances added to both Edmonton and Calgary
The two largest cities in Alberta now have more mobile support.
Alberta Health Services successfully hired and added 10 new ambulances in Calgary and Edmonton to add to the nine that already went in to service in June 2022.
To staff the new ambulances, forty new paramedics have also been hired.
Alberta Health Services hopes this will help with the 30 percent increase in EMS call volumes in comparison to pre-pandemic volume.
It took roughly a year from manufacture and assembly to outfitting and the units are now road ready to serve the population.
