"Our main thing is to get the kids interested into the dance... being able to share with them. And the energy was crazy. I felt so good. And it been an honour." — Mikey Harris of the Ivan Flett Métis Memorial Dancers.

Mikey “Dizzy Feet” Harris and his siblings Jacob and Cieanna Harris performed at Memorial Park for the International Children’s Festival of the Arts in St. Albert on June 3.

Mikey says that it was an honour to showcase and teach the cultural dance to the kids.

Jacob says that the energy he felt from the kids during the performance was an amazing feeling, as was being able to perform after a few years of restrictions with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group got kids to perform on stage with them to learn how to jig, which is Cieanna’s favorite part of the show: she says it allows them to teach younger generations about jigging.

Mikey talks about their humble beginnings—from a very young age as dancers, to where they are today and who inspired them to perform.
