McMurray Metis elect new board member

"McMurray Metis is an organization that is at the forefront of some important conversations in Wood Buffalo"

The McMurray Metis Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Derrick Trottier as its new director. Trottier will fill that position until the next general meeting scheduled for June of 2022.

Trottier has lived in the Fort McMurray area for over 20 years and has a background in engineering. He began working at Suncor in 1998 and in early 2020 joined Syncrude to lead a safety task force. Trottier also sits on several community boards in RMWB and is the president of The Hub Family Resources Centre.

Trottier says he is excited to be part of contributing to Indigenous interests and growth. He says McMurray Metis is an organization that is at the forefront of some important conversations in Wood Buffalo.

Peter Hanson, President of McMurray Metis, says they’re looking forward to having a new perspective with someone who has such an extensive background in the Fort McMurray area.
