Road to the Arctic Winter Games

Get ready Wood Buffalo,

The Arctic Winter games return to the Region from January 29 to February 4, 2023.

The games date back to 1970, so young athletes could compete on their own turf, and pass on northern Traditions & culture.

From the first time since 2004, 2100 participants from 8 contingents across the circumpolar north will compete in 20 sports at 12 venues in Fort McKay, Fort McMurray and Anzac.

There will also be cultural performances at Keyano theatre, and at pop up locations throughout the week, giving you a first hand look at indigenous cultures around the north.

Cheer on teams at the Arctic winter games from Canada, Alaska, Finland, Norway , Greenland and Sweden.

Listen & watch for daily updates on CFWE, Alberta's Best Country, and across our social media channels.

It's our time to shine at the Wood Buffalo 2023 arctic winter games, from January 28 to February 4, 2023
