In a Friday release, police said on Sept. 19, the girl was walking home with her bicycle in the area of 43 Avenue and 33 Street, “when she was pulled into a van by a male suspect and sexually assaulted, the suspect male then pushed the girl out of the vehicle after the assault, before fleeing the scene southbound on 34 Street past a 7-11 convenience store,” the release read.
The van is described as white, with rear “barn-style” doors, tinted windows and police said it “may have been parked on the north curb of 43 Avenue by the community lake.”
Police are asking residents in the Fountain Lake/Larkspur area to check home or business video cameras for any images of the van in the area between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Child Protection Section has taken control of the investigation, and the girl is currently receiving support from the Zebra Child Protection Centre
